Following the success of the 1978 horror benchmark HALLOWEEN, director John Carpenter‘s THE FOG found him re-teaming with “Scream Queen” Jamie-Lee Curtis in this H.P. Lovecraft-inspired, atmospheric creepshow.
Set in a seaside California town commemorating its “unholy” centenary as it finds itself caught in the terrifying grips of an ancient curse, a doomed ship – and a creeping mist. Lovingly remastered and restored in glorious 4K, the film features the mother-daughter team of Curtis and Janet Leigh, and stars Adrienne Barbeau, Hal Holbrook, Tom Atkins, John Houseman.
“THE FOG is more spooky yarn than streamlined scream machine; it’s the sort of crowd pleaser best enjoyed with an audience.” (New York Times)
“The Fog is pivotal to the cementing of Carpenter’s aesthetic.” (Slant Magazine)

THE FOG (John Carpenter, 1980 / 89 mins / 14A) Strange things begin to occurs as a tiny California coastal town prepares to commemorate its centenary. Inanimate objects spring eerily to life; Rev. Malone stumbles upon a dark secret about the town’s founding; radio announcer Stevie witnesses a mystical fire; and hitchhiker Elizabeth discovers the mutilated corpse of a fisherman. Then a mysterious iridescent fog descends upon the village, and more people start to die.
