‘Soon after the three-day festival has ended, we’ve hit the road with a great selection of the best films from the festival and go to at least 25 cities (or perhaps more!) all across the United States and Canada. We’re showing these films only in very nice movie theaters (AHEM, RIO THEATRE) with comfortable seats, and high-quality sound and picture. Each theater we’ll visit will also serve beer (and often also food!), and will in general provide an excellent venue to enjoy the amazing job these filmmakers have done in creating entertaining, inspiring trail-running films. ‘
There are a lot of talented filmmakers in this close-knit and extended trail community, and we wanted to create a way to showcase everything we love so much about trail running, while simultaneously highlighting local, regional, national, and international filmmakers. Thus, in early 2013,The Trail Running Film Fest was born!
Our very first festival was in March of 2013 alongside our Gorge Waterfalls trail races, and it sold out in a matter of hours. That weekend-long festival was so popular we were asked by numerous trail runners from all over North America to take the festival on tour to their communities. In March of 2014, we did just that! After a very successful 12-city tour debut in the Northwest, we took our beloved Film Fest on the road for an amazing 31-city nationwide tour in the fall of 2014.
2015 was an even bigger year for The Trail Running Film Festival, as we ran an 18-city tour this past spring, and then expanded from simply touring shows to add a stand-alone 3-day film festival in Seattle, WA, while also showcasing some of the best films from that 3-day festival during an ambitious and successful ~30-city tour in the Fall of 2015. And we’ll be back for more Film Fest adventures (including traveling tours and a even bigger and better 3-day festival in Seattle) in 2016!
Almost daily we get requests to bring our carefully curated selection of the best trail-running movies out there to cities all over the country (and the world!), so stay tuned – we might be coming to your city (or your country!) very soon.
