“They just use your mind and you never get the credit
It’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it…”
As part of Women’s History Month in March, we felt the time was right to revisit something of a cinematic unicorn: A blockbuster 80s comedy that also happens to feature three of the funniest leading women ever assembled in a high-larious celluloid fantasy.
Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton (in her big-screen debut) shine as three female employees who, when fed up with their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot of a boss, devise a plan to turn the tables on him – and take over the office. And of course, it goes without saying, they create a more efficient, sociable, and pleasant work environment. Shocker! Also starring Dabney Coleman (and one of the most iconic, catchy, original songs ever composed for a movie, courtesy of Ms. Parton).
“Dolly Parton is, on the basis of this one film, a natural-born movie star, a performer who holds our attention so easily that it’s hard to believe it’s her first film.” (Roger Ebert)

9 TO 5 (Colin Higgins, 1980 / 110 mins / PG) Frank Hart is a pig. He takes advantage in the grossest manner of the women who work with him. When his three assistants manage to trap him in his own house they assume control of his department and productivity leaps, but just how long can they keep Hart tied up?
