Almost Famous (25th Anniversary Screening)

Experience it. Enjoy it. Just don't fall for it.

“The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you’re uncool.”

It’s all happening…! Writer-director Cameron Crowe‘s (SAY ANYTHING…, SINGLES) turned his own story as a juvenile rock critic who hit the road with some of the 70s biggest rock bands into the masterful ALMOST FAMOUS, the tale of 15-year-old William Miller (a remarkable feature debut from a pitch-perfect Patrick Fugit) who is hired by Rolling Stone magazine to follow and interview the up-and-coming rock band Stillwater during their first big tour.

Primarily a coming of age film, ALMOST FAMOUS is just as much a sweetly nostalgic story about first love, disappointment, and the life of a rock star. Beyond its stellar soundtrack, ALMOST FAMOUS boasts a stand-out cast (including an Oscar-nominated performance from Kate Hudson as the enigmatic “band aid” Penny Lane) turning in wholly memorable performances that are as fresh today as they were upon the film’s release in 2000. Also starring Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee, Zooey Deschanel, Anna Paquin, Fairuza Balk, Noah Taylor, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Jimmy Fallon.

“The film shimmers with the irresistible pleasures that define Hollywood at its best — it’s polished like glass, funny, knowing and bright, and filled with characters whose lives are invariably sexier and more purposeful than our own.” (L.A. Weekly)

“A blissfully sweet coming-of-age movie in which everyone, young and less young, comes of age.” (New York Magazine)
