Join us for another Studio Ghibli double bill night, featuring Hiromasa Yonebayashi’s WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE followed by Hayao Miyazaki’s HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE. Both features will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles. All ages welcome!

WHEN MARNIE WAS THERE “Omoide no Mânî” (Hiromasa Yonebayashi, 2014 / DCP, 103 mins ) A young girl is sent to the country for health reasons, where she meets an unlikely friend in the form of Marnie, a young girl with flowing blonde hair. As the friendship unravels it is possible that Marnie has closer ties to the protagonist than we might expect. Starring Sara Takatsuki, Kasumi Arimura, Nanako Matsushima

HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE “Hauru no ugoku shiro” (Hayao Miyazaki, 2004 / DCP / 119 mins, PG) | When an unconfident young woman is cursed with an old body by a spiteful witch, her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a self-indulgent yet insecure young wizard and his companions in his legged, walking castle. Chieko Baishô, Takuya Kimura, Tatsuya Gashûin.
