Like many teens, Sadie (Brianna Hildebrand) and McKayla (Alexandra Shipp) just want to be “liked,” regardless of which online platform might offer them the validation they desire. Granted, their sociopathic bid for social-media immortality hinges on boosting their online followers by reporting on a killing spree that that they’re also perpetrating, but still… Having kidnapped a local serial killer (Kevin Durand) and enlisted him as their unwilling mentor (and eventual scapegoat), these murderous Midwesterners (played with unrelentingly wicked charm by Hidebrand and Shipp, two stars in the making) believe they can develop the necessary chops to make it as horror legends. But then circumstances conspire to drive a wedge between them…

Deftly balancing comedy and commentary, Tyler MacIntyre’s riotous instant cult classic recalls the legendary likes of Heathers while crafting a blood-soaked snapshot of our selfie-involved times.

“One of the freshest, funniest horror-comedies to emerge in Scream’s long wake. A key to the success of this giddily postmodern, subtly disturbing splatter-farce is its general disinterest in playing spot-the-reference, instead taking style cues from its own central pair of social media-obsessed high school serial killers, played with delirious commitment by [Shipp and Hildebrand].”—Andrew Barker, Variety
