The Killing of a Sacred Deer

Following 2015’s breathtakingly original and Oscar-nominated romance THE LOBSTER, Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (DOGTOOTH) and actor Colin Farrell re-team for another unusual offering, with the psychological revenge- thriller THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER. Farrell again stars, this time as a renowned cardiovascular surgeon presiding over a spotless household with his ophthalmologist wife Anna (Nicole Kidman) and their two exemplary children. Lurking at the margins of his idyllic suburban existence is Martin, a fatherless teen who Steven has covertly taken under his wing. As Martin begins insinuating himself into the family’s life in ever-more unsettling displays, the full scope of his intent becomes menacingly clear when he confronts Steven with a long-forgotten transgression that will shatter the Murphy family’s domestic bliss. With Alicia Silverstone, Barry Keoghan, Sunny Suljic, and Raffey Cassidy.

“To see an unfettered nightmare like this from such an idiosyncratic director feels like a cruel treat, and a welcome stylistic stretch.” (Vulture)

“A stunning, mind-blowing revenge story.” (Rolling Stone)

THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER continues director Yorgos Lanthimos‘ stubbornly idiosyncratic streak — and demonstrates again that his is a talent not to be ignored.” (Rotten Tomatoes)

“Performances are solid all round, but the standout is Irish actor Barry Keoghan. Shy and lonely one moment, utterly blood-chilling the next, he’s a mesmerizing presence on this screen of menace.” (Toronto Star)
