The Gentlemen Hecklers Present: The Happening (2008)

We've Sensed It. We've Seen The Signs. Now... It's Happening.

Come see folks who wrote jokes for Netflix’s latest season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 provide live, hilarious commentary for modern-day auteur M. Night Shyamalan‘s (whose work is always appreciated by The Gentlemen Hecklers) criminally under-seen chestnut from 2008, THE HAPPENING. Let The Gentlemen Hecklers provide you with their unique brand of live, hilarious commentary – for the best cheesy movies! Eric Fell, Patrick Maliha, and Shaun Stewart are Vancouver’s masters of movie riffing, making so-bad-they’re-good movies even better by talking you through them.

Mark “Marky” Wahlberg stars as Pennsylvania science teacher Elliot Moore – a man who seems destined to, quite possibly, save humanity (and Murikka) in the immediate aftermath of an apocalyptic terrorist attack (maybe) that arrives out of the clear blue sky (weirdly), setting off a series of violent, inexplicable deaths that soon spread across the country. At first, the cause of the terrifying phenomenon remains a mystery (because M. Night Shyamalan), prompting Moore, his wife Alma (Zooey Deschanel) and his colleague Julian (John Leguizamo) to try to elude the “invisible killer” in the countryside. Pretty soon, it becomes clear that no one is safe and nothing makes sense and you can totally forget everything you thought that you knew (because M. Night Shyamalan). “What’s happening?!?” (The Gentlemen Hecklers will explain it all. Trust!)

THE HAPPENING (M. Night Shyamalan, 2008 / 91 mins / PG) When a deadly airborne virus threatens to wipe out the northeastern United States, teacher Elliott Moore and his wife  flee from contaminated city into the countryside in a fight to discover the truth. Is it terrorism, the accidental release of some toxic military bio weapon — or something even more sinister?
