Above all else, we here at the Rio Theatre are movie lovers. And there’s nothing we love more than seeing some of the all-time classics of cinema on the big screen, just as nature intended. With that in mind, we felt there as no better way to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of one of our forever favourites, Francis Ford Coppola‘s THE GODFATHER than with an encore, big screen viewing it so richly deserves.

Even better? As part of the 50th Anniversary of THE GODFATHER, the film has been stunningly restored and remastered in glorious 4K.

Mario Puzo‘s best-selling saga of the Italian-American Corleone crime family, THE GODFATHER, was adapted by Francis Ford Coppola into not one, but two of the most acclaimed (not to mention influential) films ever put to celluloid. For a time, THE GODFATHER was the highest grossing picture ever made, and remains the box office leader for 1972, winning Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor (Marlon Brando), and Best Adapted Screenplay (for Puzo and Coppola). Featuring fantastic performances from a stellar ensemble, including Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, James Caan, John Cazale, Robert Duvall, Abe Vigoda, Talia Shire and more.
