Possession (Sam Neill Tribute Screening)
We are dimming the lights, raising a glass, and firing up the projector in tribute to the late, great actor Sam Neill with one of his most memorable performances as a husband whose marriage is falling apart in Andrzej Żuławski‘s iconic and endlessly influential horror thriller, POSSESSION.
2021 4K Restoration. A Metrograph Pictures release.
“That the film is much more than a gawk-at-it freak show is testament to Zulawski’s talent for making even the most exaggerated behavior resonate with pointed and potent emotion.” (Time Out Magazine)
“This is not the type of horror movie you take your friends to for a laugh; this is what you watch with your ex and realize how much worse things could have been.” (The Stranger)
“[Possession] remains one of the most grueling, powerful, and overwhelmingly intense cinematic experiences that you are likely to have in your lifetime.” (Roger Ebert.com)
