We are now operating at a 50% capacity, and do recommend making advance ticket purchases either online or at our concession (during operational hours) in order to ensure entry.

Voted the #1 Independent Theatre in Vancouver, the Rio Theatre is a multimedia venue featuring arthouse, mainstream and cult-classic cinemas as well as live entertainment.
Built in 1938, the Rio has been fully restored with a state of the art digital projector, surround sound, a huge stage and 420 luxurious seats.
In 2012, The Rio won a hard fought battle with the BC Liquor board, to change the liquor laws so that movie theatres could serve alcohol. We now feature an array of local craft beer & cider, local organic wines, mixed drinks & cocktails as well as buttery popcorn, grilled cheese sandwiches, and candy.
