Nocturnal Animals

When you love someone you can't just throw it away.

The critical and audience accolades for fashion icon Tom Ford‘s latest effort NOCTURNAL ANIMALS (winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Venice International Film Festival and Golden Globe nods for Best Director and Best Screenplay) dispel any notion of the dreaded “sophomore slump” following his stunning feature debut, 2009’s A SINGLE MAN. Based on the novel by Austin Wright, this film furthers Ford’s undeniably stylish visual and narrative voice in equal measure, treading familiar noirish territory as it follows wealthy art gallery owner Susan (a sublime Amy Adams) who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband (Jake Gyllenhaal) — a man she left 20 years earlier — asking for her opinion of his writing. As she reads, she is drawn into the fictional life of Tony Hastings, a math professor whose family vacation turns violent. NOCTURNAL ANIMALS is a haunting romantic thriller of shocking intimacy and gripping tension that explores the thin lines between love and cruelty, revenge and redemption. This elegantly sexual film is further buoyed by phenomenal performances from Adams, Gyllenhaal, Michal Shannon (who has been nominated with a Best Supporting Oscar nomination for this role) and Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

“Designer turned director Tom Ford uses his gift for striking visuals to create a must-see.” (US Weekly)

“Tom Ford hits it out of the park with a stunning film noir that resonates with ghostly, poetic terror. Don’t overthink what Ford has so cunningly crafted. Surrender to it.” (Rolling Stone)
