JAWS

Don't go in the water

“We’re gonna need a bigger screen.”

Steven Spielberg‘s original summer blockbuster, JAWS, is still cause for maritime terror over 45 years after its release in 1975. Based on Peter Benchley‘s novel of the same name, Spielberg‘s JAWS forever changed the cinematic landscape, setting a whole new bar for mainstream horror. Masterfully directed with artful yet thrilling cinematography – coupled with John Williams‘ truly iconic score – JAWS retains its rightful place in movie history as a genuine classic, four decades after its release. Best enjoyed on the big screen (if you dare!).

The charming story of a police chief (Roy Scheider), a marine scientist (Richard Dreyfuss), and a grizzled fisherman (Robert Shaw) who spring into action after a white shark terrorizes the inhabitants of Amity, a quiet island.

“It may be the most cheerfully perverse scare movie ever made. Even while you’re convulsed with laughter you’re still apprehensive, because the editing rhythms are very tricky, and the shock images loom up huge, right on top of you.” (The New Yorker)

“Delivers an astonishingly effective thriller built on a very primal level: fear… On a sheer cause and effect basis, it could be Spielberg’s finest.” (Empire Magazine)
