Delinquent (Vancouver Premiere!)

He tried to hide. The Island found him.

Join us at the Rio Theatre – and toast National Canadian Film Day (April 18) – with the Vancouver Premiere of director David Strasser’s, DELINQUENT, the first feature-length film to be shot on British Columbia’s Salt Spring Island.

DELINQUENT tells the inspirational story of a rebellious teenager on a downward spiral. Jakob Levin is sentenced by the courts to serve his time on an organic farm run by his uncle. Put to work with a bunch of misfit interns, he soon discovers that not everything is as idyllic as it first appears, and beneath the beauty of the farm, potentially malevolent forces are at play. With Jessie Platt, Katie Hayashida, Moishe Tiechman, and Julian Paul. Cast and crew – including lead actor Jesse Platt, Second Unit director Jessica Randall, producer Mert Sari, producer Graem Luis, and director David Strasser – will be in in attendance for Q&A!

DELINQUENT had its World Premiere at the Whistler Film Festival and was nominated for the Borsos Award for Best Canadian Feature. It won Best Canadian Film at the Canada West Film Festival, and was awarded the Independent Spirit Award, Best Actor, and Best Script Awards at the Chilliwack Independent Film Festival. In addition, Delinquent was nominated for the Norman McLaren Award at the Montreal World Film Festival, was a finalist for Best Canadian Feature at the Regina International Film Festival, and was an official selection at Ottawa Indie Fest and the Durham Regional International Film Festival.
