Arrival

Why are they here?

Canadian director Denis Villeneuve (INCENDIES, SICARIO, the upcoming BLADE RUNNER 2049) delivers yet another hit with sci-fi fantasy thriller ARRIVAL, one of 2016’s most lauded  titles – and a possible career high for Amy Adams, who has been nominated for both Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe awards for her performance.

Adams plays linguistics professor Louise Banks, who leads an elite team of investigators when gigantic spaceships touch down in 12 locations around the world. As nations teeter on the verge of global war, Banks and her crew must race against time to find a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors. Hoping to unravel the mystery, she takes a chance that could threaten her life and quite possibly all of mankind. Also starring Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker.

ARRIVAL delivers a must-see experience for fans of thinking person’s sci-fi that anchors its heady themes with genuinely affecting emotion and a terrific performance from Amy Adams.” (Rotten Tomatoes)

“A tremulous, inviting Amy Adams turns softness and quiet into heroic qualities, keeping her voice low and modulated and using stillness to pull you close.” (The New York Times)

“What’s remarkable about “Arrival” is its contemplative core—and, of course, Ms. Adams’s star performance, which is no less impassioned for being self-effacing.” (The Wall Street Journal)
“It’s a film you’ll want to discuss and debate with your friends. The message may not be original but the methodology certainly is. A movie doesn’t have to spell everything out for me if I get a sense that the filmmaker is offering me something to ponder.” (Leonard Maltin)
