One trilogy marathon to rule them all….

Join us at the Rio Theatre on Sunday, January 2 for a daylong movie marathon event featuring Peter Jackson‘s LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy (Extended Edition!): Back-to-back, on the big screen, and in its entirety. Based on the high-fantasy epic novel by English author J.R.R. Tolkien, Jackson’s trilogy represents a monumental achievement in modern filmmaking that has been embraced by fans around the world.

Costumes welcome and encouraged! (Or, feel free to stay comfy in your PJs; it’s gonna be a l-o-n-g day of awesome. Your call, my precioussssss.) Be prepared for hosts, trivia, games, prizes, and more. Details coming soon!

Please be advised:

1) The scheduled start time of the first film is at 11:00 am on Sunday, January 2. The start times are SHARP. Due to the nature of this trilogy marathon, start times on Parts 2 & 3 are “approximate.” We will do our absolute best to keep break and start times consistent with the posted times throughout the day.
2) Doors for this show are at 10:00 am on Sunday, January 2. We encourage everyone to come early to ensure a great seat! Be prepared for all kinds of pre-show goodness (and goodies). We’ll make it worth your while.
3) Minors are permitted. All seating is by general admission – first come, first served.

Starting December 22, 2021 all events at the Rio Theatre are operating at 50% capacity. Advance tickets are recommended for all shows to ensure entry and seating. Online sales for every screening automatically end one hour before any given showtime.

*Rio Theatre Groupons and passes OK for any single film screening only. Please redeem at the box office.
*If you are looking to redeem your tickets to either a canceled Rio Theatre screening or a Rio Theatre gift certificate, please email <[email protected]> with info including your name, canceled receipt number, gift certificate info, what you are wanting to see and when, and we can make the switch for you in advance. Alternately, you can bring this information with you to the venue, and we will do our best to help you at the box office.

In accordance with the Province of British Columbia’s current PHO from the Ministry of Health, all eligible patrons must present their proof of vaccine status for entry. No exceptions.
