Michelle Parker
Michelle Parker got her start as a ski racer at her home resort of Squaw Valley, California. By age 15, she realized her passion was freeskiing, not racing. She competed in slopestyle and halfpipe at the US Open and X Games for a few years, but eventually she decided to switch gears from the park to big-mountain terrain. She signed up for a mountain guide training program in Haines, Alaska, and started taking her tricks to the backcountry. Michelle, now one of the ski industry’s most versatile female skiers, has appeared in over a dozen ski films and in 2013, she won Best Female Performance at the Powder Video Awards and at the International Freeski Film Festival for her segment in Matchstick Productions’ Superheroes of Stoke. Breaking the traditional mold of filming ski movies, in the past two years Michelle co-produced her own series with Red Bull and Reel Water Productions titled Originate. In an effort to give back to the outdoor community, Michelle also co-founded S.A.F.E.A.S. clinics in 2012, an avalanche safety workshop program. S.A.F.E.A.S. has reached over 1,000 participants of which are primarily women and has proven to be a successful way to encourage women to participate in mountain sports.
Spearhead

The Spearhead Traverse is an iconic backcountry touring route that forms a horseshoe-shaped line between British Columbia’s Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Relative ease of access and proximity to the resort has attracted ski-mountaineering and ski-touring pioneers to push the boundaries of the sport and themselves since the 1950’s. Today, the range faces questions related to the management of overcrowding, human impacts on the environment, and a host of safety concerns that come with increased numbers venturing into uncontrolled terrain.
The film explores the legendary past, complex present, and unwritten future of the traverse as a group of today’s ski and snowboard athletes leave their own mark on the fabled chutes and steeps found along the route. The approved construction of three huts along the traverse has accelerated the need for a discussion on how to manage the issues confronted in this spectacular environment. The project provides an opportunity for the region to set a precedent for responsible development and management of backcountry access.
The Russian Odyssey

We could have just gone to Japan. That line undoubtedly ran through each of our minds as we dealt with complicated Visas, disgruntled border security, questionable ham sandwiches, and white-knuckle driving through the Russian roadways. Just a few whispers had driven us there—tales of a place that combined the snowfall and terrain of Japan, Jackson Hole, and British-Columbia: the Caucasus Range. With little more than a few casual suggestions and some Google Earth research, we were off. Unsure of what we would find, Mother Russia opened her arms to us. Follow along on our journey full of surprises, changing conditions, and a vibrant culture unlike anything we expected…
Electric Greg

Record-breaking mountain endurance athlete, Greg Hill, has never shied away from a goal. Through his time spent in the mountains he’s seen the affects of climate change first-hand and came to realize the way he was approaching the mountains was only making the problem worse. Two years ago he changed his approach and set out to climb 100 peaks without burning any fossil fuels. But the question is: will it make a difference?
