UNDER THE VOLCANO (John Huston, 1984 / 112 mins / 18A) | Set against the outbreak of World War 2 and Mexico’s Day of the Dead is a day in the life of an alcoholic British consul whose self-destructive behaviour is metaphorically intertwined with the unsettled, shifting state of civilization and his own crumbling marriage.
