The Sandlot (25th Anniversary Screening!)

A piece of paradise a half block wide and a whole summer long.

“You’re killing me, Smalls!”

Play ball! Unleash your inner-90s, coming-of-age self with a family-friendly, 25th Anniversary screening of one of our all-time favourite baseball movies – THE SANDLOT.

It’s the early 1960’s and fifth-grader Scotty Smalls has just moved into town with his folks. Kids call him a dork — he can’t even throw a baseball! But that changes when the leader of the neighborhood gang recruits him to play on the nearby sandlot field. It’s the beginning of a magical summer of baseball, wild adventures, first kisses and fearsome confrontations with the dreaded beast and its owner who live behind the left field fence. Soon nine boys have become best friends, Scotty is part of a team, and their leader has become a local legend in this hilarious and warmhearted comedy. When Scottie Smalls moves to a new neighborhood, he manages to make friends with a group of kids who play baseball at the sandlot. Together they go on a series of funny and touching adventures. The boys run into trouble when Smalls borrows a ball from his stepdad that gets hit over a fence. With Tom Guiry, Karen Allen, Denis Leary, and James Earl Jones.

THE SANDLOT is like the summer version of A CHRISTMAS STORY.” (Roger Ebert)
