The Lost Boys

Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire.

Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die…
It’s fun to be a vampire.

The Rio Theatre‘s series of Halloween classics continues on Thursday, October 26 with everyone’s favourite teen vampire thriller, Joel Schumacher‘s star-studded (the two Coreys!) pop-culture touchstone THE LOST BOYS.

The cult-classic story follows teenage brothers Michael and Sam, who move with their mother to a small town in northern California. While the younger Sam meets a pair of kindred spirits in geeky comic-book nerds Edward and Alan, the angst-ridden Michael soon falls for the beautiful Star — who turns out to be in thrall to David, leader of a local gang of vampires. With Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, and Alex Winter.

“‘The Lost Boys’, in its artless way, asks us to consider that being for ever young isn’t a sweet Edwardian evocation of innocence, but a vision of pure hell, like vampirism.” (Guardian UK)

“That the film works so well is a testament to Joel Schumacher’s pop sensibilities, his slick production design and an iconic soundtrack — Echo & the Bunnymen’s version of ‘People Are Strange’ is a majestic way to begin a movie.” (Times UK)
