The Killer

Execution is everything.

THE KILLER finds director David Fincher (FIGHT CLUB, ZODIAC) on firm footing and returning to form with a stylish and engaging neo-noir thriller that proves a perfect match for leading man Michael Fassbender.

Based on the French graphic novel series of the same name written by Alexis “Matz” Nolent, and adapted for the screen by screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker (SE7EN) the film features an original score from Trent Reznor (who took home Oscar gold for  scoringFincher’s THE SOCIAL NETWORK), and follows the foibles of the titular assassin, who gets embroiled in an international manhunt after a hit goes wrong.  With Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Kerry O’Malley, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.

“A thriller of pure surface and style and managed with terrific flair.”  (Guardian UK)

“The gags are plentiful – whether that’s Tilda Swinton telling a bear joke, a close-to-the-bone comment about a wheelie bin, or the comedic appearance of a parmesan grater during a terrific house brawl.” (Total Film)

““Watching a master filmmaker and a masterful actor quietly go to work on a by-the-numbers revenge rampage story is never a bad thing.” (IndieWire)

“The Killer is an anti-Bond, anti-super-cool-assassin film, an exercise in subverting expectations.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

“Instead of overloading his story with fussy layers, Fincher pares everything back to the genre’s essence… In Fincher’s hands, that narrowed focus expands the genre’s possibilities rather than shrinking them.” (TIME Magazine)

THE KILLER (David Fincher, 2023 / 118 mins / 18A) Solitary, cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, a killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. Yet, the longer he waits, the more he thinks he’s losing his mind, if not his cool.
