The Grizzlies

The Grizzlies

Miranda de Pencier won the Directors Guild of Canada’s award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for this inspiring, true Canadian sports story. Set in a small Arctic town struggling with the highest suicide rate in North America, a group of Inuit students’ lives are transformed when they are introduced to the sport of lacrosse. With Jack Anawak, Fred Bailey, Seth Burke, Tantoo Cardinal, Colton Clause.

“It’s a movie that tells its story with authenticity and heart, and that makes all the difference. It scores.” (NOW Toronto)

“Bracingly unsentimental and transcendently moving at the same time.” (The Hollywood Reporter)

“Where ‘The Grizzlies’, named after the eventual team, really comes to life is in the space it gives a young, mostly nonprofessional cast to shine as winning individuals.” (The Georgia Straight)
