Remarkably, the film manages to sustain a believably mystical universe without using any human actors, instead relying upon Henson’s puppet creatures to tell its dark yet whimsical tale. Inspired by the fabled stories of the Brothers Grimm, THE DARK CRYSTAL takes place on another planet in a far-off past, and follows Jen and Kira, the last two members of the Gelfling tribe, who are trying to stop the evil Skeksis from conquering their world.
