“Can you dig it?”
We’re getting into the summer groove with a prime time double bill featuring not one, but two phenomenally stylish cult-classics from iconic filmmaker Walter Hill: THE WARRIORS and STREETS OF FIRE. See one, or see ’em both for one sweet price!
Hill’s action-adventure-musical STREETS OF FIRE is a bona fide cult-classic guilty pleasure that, upon its release in 1984, spoke directly to the MTV generation. Featuring a memorable soundtrack from musician Ry Cooder and billed as a “rock and roll fable from another time, another place,” the film stars Willem Dafoe as Raven Shaddock, who – with his gang of merciless biker friends – kidnaps rock singer Ellen Aim (Diane Lane). Ellen’s former lover, soldier-for-hire Tom Cody (Michael Paré), happens to be passing through town on a visit. In an attempt to save his star act, Ellen’s manager Billy Fish (Rick Moranis) hires Tom to rescue her. Along with a former soldier named McCoy (Amy Madigan), they battle through dangerous cityscapes, determined to get Ellen back.
Costumes very welcome – and encouraged.(And yes, there will even be prizes, so let your Fury freak flag fly.) But please: Leave your glass bottles and baseball bats at home, OK?
