Benjamin Statler’s SOAKED IN BLEACH examines the events behind Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s death, as seen through the eyes of private investigator Tom Grant. In 1994, Grant was hired by Cobain’s wife Courtney Love to track down her missing husband days before his body was found at their Seattle home. Though Cobain’s death was ruled a suicide by the police, decades of lingering doubt continue to swirl around the legitimacy of this ruling. Grant, a former L.A. County Sheriff’s detective, did his own investigation and determined there was significant empirical and circumstantial evidence to conclude that foul play could have occurred. SOAKED IN BLEACH develops as a narrative mystery using cinematic re-creations, interviews with key experts and witnesses, and the examination of artifacts from the 1994 case.
