Smiley Face #FridayLateNight

High. How are you?

The Rio Theatre’s Friday Late Night Movie series continues on April 19 with Gregg Araki‘s 2007 comedy SMILEY FACE, featuring Anna Faris in a criminally underappreciated turn as as struggling but perpetually stoned actress who is having…. “a day.”

Jane (Faris) She has several important tasks on her list, including buying more marijuana. Even though she already has a good start on the day’s planned drug use, she eats her roommate’s pot-laced cupcakes and embarks on a series of misadventures all over Los Angeles. With Adam Brody, Jane Lynch, John Krasinski, John Cho, Danny Trejo, Roscoe Lee Brown, Marion Ross.

“Despite its laid-back script, SMILEY FACE is as prankishly political as Mr. Araki’s DOOM GENERATION …” (The New York Times)

“Dylan Haggerty has written an eleventh-hour candidate for the funniest movie of 2007, that Gregg Araki has directed his finest film since 1997’s NOWHERE, and that Faris, flawless, rocks their inspired idiot odyssey in a virtuoso comedic turn.” (The Village Voice)

“This film-jam-packed with guest appearances-is a sweet, surreal nugget…” (The Stranger)
