Satan Wants You (With Filmmaker Q&A)

She was chosen... as the Devil's bride.

SATAN WANTS YOU is a feature documentary about the shocking story of how a young Canadian woman and her psychiatrist helped ignite the global Satanic Panic conspiracy with their bestselling memoir, “Michelle Remembers.”

Supported by the Catholic Church, the bestselling book relied on recovered-memory therapy to uncover Michelle’s childhood abduction by baby-stealing Satanists. Amplified by law enforcement and America’s daytime TV boom, satanic rumors spread through panic-stricken communities across the world, leaving a wave of destruction and wrongful convictions in their wake. This film digs deep into the roots of moral panics and cult conspiracies, showing how these events still affect and distort our reality today.

A hit at film festivals around the world (including SXSW, DOXA, Fantasia, SIFF and CUFF) in 2023, SATAN WANTS YOU is a wild, provocative ride made even stranger by its setting… Victoria, BC! We’re delighted to be welcoming the filmmakers for a post-show Q&A following our screening.

“Prepare yourself for the story behind one of the biggest conspiracy theories  in Canadian history — born right here in Victoria, BC. This documentary is for the thriller lovers, history buffs, long-time Victoria residents, and curious viewers — a true deep dive into the horrific and terrifying ‘Satanic Panic’ that swept the world in the 1980s and 90s.” (Victoria Buzz)

“A ridiculously entertaining film, ‘Satan Wants You’ might just inspire some sympathy for the devil.” (The Tyee)

“Satan Wants You doesn’t just unveil disturbing truths behind a bygone era; it’s a cautionary tale for our current age of rampant misinformation.” (Bloody Disgusting)
