Run Woman Run

The ghosts from your past will catch up to you. So will the donuts.

“Save a mile for yourself. Honor your own life.”

Single mother Beck, who lives in Six Nations, has been running from reality. Herbreakfast of champions is a 5 cream, 5 sugar coffee, and donuts. Something has to give and it does when Beck finds herself in a diabetic coma and visited by a ghostly ancestor, the legendary Indigenous marathon runner Tom Longboat, who becomes her wise-cracking new life coach. Told with a lighthearted touch, RUN WOMAN RUN  is a feel-good anti-rom-com about a woman who has to tackle the ghosts of her past before she can run toward a new future.

“RUN WOMAN RUN is a lighthearted film with serious messages that doesn’t shy away from the big topics, but at its heart it is an underdog story about overcoming obstacles and belief in ones self.” (Richard Crouse)

RUN WOMAN RUN (Zoe Leigh Hopkins, 2022 / 14 A / 100 mins) When a steady diet of donuts, pizza, cake and cigarettes lands single mother Beck in a diabetic coma, she receives a ghostly life coach in the form of legendary marathon hero Tom Longboat who provides the push Beck needs to make a life changing run/run for  life.

Beck, a single mom, lives in Six Nations, Canada. After her mother’s death, she abandons her dream of becoming a Mohawk language teach- er, and an unhealthy lifestyle leads to a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. The ghost of Tom Longboat, a sports legend of the early 1900s, appears to her. He teaches Beck to become an honor runner, dedicating each run to an aspect of creation or a special person in her life. With Tom’s help, Beck is able to turn her life around.
