RRR: Indian Independence Day EncoRRRe

Rise, Roar, Revolution!

Join us at the RRRio Theatre on Tuesday, August 15 (Indian Independence Day!)  a special prime time,  encoRRRe screening of one of the most eye-popping films of the last decade, legendary Indian filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli‘s audacious, over-the-top, Oscar-winning big screen bonanza and bona fide blockbuster RRR (Rise! Roar! Revolution!).

RRR is an exhilarating, action-packed spectacular mythologizing two real-life freedom fighters who helped lead India’s fight for independence from the British Raj, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. Set in the 1920s before their fight for India’s independence began, RRR imagines a fictional meeting between the two, set into motion when a young Gond girl is stolen from her village by British soldiers. With a powerful message, staggeringly choreographed action sequences, and an all-timer of a musical number, RRR is sheer big-screen joy from start to finish.

“‘RRR’ is rightfully deserving of its accolades and rabid word of mouth because the film is filled with moments that have to be seen to be believed…. There’s an animal fight, underground running, a face-to-face battle with a tiger, a train explosion, heartbreaking flashbacks, unbelievable fight choreography, and quite possibly one of cinema’s best musical dance sequences that has inspired viral TikTok dance challenges across the globe, and audience participation during theatrical screenings. Not since “The Time Warp” from ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ has a cinematic dance craze swept the globe, and it’s because the choreography is perfect by design.” (Slash Film)

“To call this the best blockbuster of 2022 is only partially accurate; it’s really several of the best blockbusters, plural, you’re apt to catch this year.” (Rolling Stone Magazine)

“RRR is maximum cinema, the kind of in-your-face, colorful, fiery, loud, awe-inspiring experience you really can only get from the movies.” (Slate Magazine)

“It may have a tenuous relationship with nuance, but RRR is a bombastic delight. Making the ‘Fast And Furious’ series look restrained by comparison, it hits the parts Hollywood actioners just can’t reach. Rise! Roar! Revelation!” (Empire Magazine)

RRR is presented theatrically exclusively in the original Telugu version. Screening in partnership with Vancouver Telugu Movies.
