Listen up, all you… Stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerf-herders of East Vancouver! To mark one of cinema’s most high holy of holidays – May (the) 4 – the Rio Theatre will be screening George Lucas‘ Original Trilogy STAR WARS films…. Back. To. Back.

YES! A NEW HOPE, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, and RETURN OF THE JEDI are currently navigating their way through an asteroid field to land on our big n’ beautiful screen and with our big n’ beautiful sound – so buckle up.

Experience the triumph of the Force in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. In the epicc onclusion of the original trilogy, the Empire prepares to crush the Rebellion with a morepowerful Death Star, while the Rebel fleet mounts a massive attack on the space station. LukeSkywalker confront Darth Vader in a final climatic duel before the evil Emperor. Starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Yoda, C-3P0, Chewbacca, R2-D2, and Darth Vader.

Please be advised:

1) The scheduled start time of A NEW HOPE Saturday, May 4 is 5:15 pm. The start times  is SHARP. Due to the nature of a trilogy marathon, start times on subsequent films are “approximate.” We will do our absolute best to keep break and start times consistent with the posted times throughout the event.
2) Doors for A NEW HOPE on Saturday, May 4 are at 4:20 pm. We encourage everyone to come early to ensure a great seat! (Seats on the main floor are assigned, and the balcony is general admission). Be prepared for all kinds of pre-show goodness (and goodies). We’ll make it worth your while. Costumes welcome and encouraged!
3) Minors welcome to all screenings. Must be 19+ w/ID for bar service.


STAR WARS: EPISODE IV – A NEW HOPE (George Lucas, 1977 / 124 mins / PG / 1997 Re-Release) Young farm boy Luke Skywalker is thrust into a galaxy of adventure when he intercepts a distress call from the captive Princess Leia. The event launches him on a daring mission to rescue her from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire.

STAR WARS: EPISODE V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (Irvin Kershner, 1980 / 124 mins / PG / 1997 Re-Release) The epic saga continues as Luke Skywalker, in hopes of defeating the evil Galactic Empire, learns the ways of the Jedi from aging master Yoda. But Darth Vader is more determined than ever to capture Luke. Meanwhile, rebel leader Princess Leia, cocky Han Solo, Chewbacca, and droids C-3PO and R2-D2 are thrown into various stages of capture, betrayal and despair.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI (Richard Marquand, 1983 / 131 mins /PG / 1997 Re-Release) When the Empire prepares to crush the Rebellion with more powerful Death Star, the Rebel fleet counters with a massive attack on the space station. In a final climatic duel, Luke Skywalker confronts Darth Vader.
