Moon Garden
Sure to delight fans of Phil Tippett’s MAD GOD, Guillermo del Toro, and Jan Švankmajer, MOON GARDEN is a fantastical odyssey and a visionary, handcrafted, and fully practical work of art that shows how a child can shine light even in the darkest places.
When a little girl has a terrible accident and slips into a coma, she finds herself thrust into a darkly surreal industrial dreamworld. Haunted by a nightmarish spectre that feeds off her tears, she must follow her mother’s radio-static voice to find her way back to consciousness.
Shot on expired 35mm film stock with vintage, re-housed lenses.
“Does a fantastic job creating a novel world that combines stop motion, forward and backward moving timelapses, and paper cut-out animation with a simple, but incredibly effective monster, as well as sets that are just as beautiful as they are frightening.” (ScreenAnarchy)
“‘Moon Garden’ is a fun ride that makes it easy to love. It’s equal parts rockabilly, heart, and wonder. It’s a feast for the eyes.” (Dread Central)
“The lead is perfectly acted and written, and the visuals, from the effects to the cinematography and lighting, are immaculate.” (Film Threat)
“A horror/fantasy that puts every bit of its imagination on the screen and constantly impresses with its DIY spectacle.” (RogerEbert.com)
