Midsommar

Let the festivities begin.

From the visionary mind of Ari Aster (HEREDITARY, BEAU IS AFRAID) comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale, where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight…

MIDSOMMAR remains one of our favourite arthouse horror films of the past few years, and what better way to pay homage to the start of summer than with a screening of this modern horror classic than with this particular work of nightmare fuel?

Even better? We’re wrapping this screening up into our Friday Late Night Movie series, and tickets are two-for-one!

Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. With Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor.

“‘Midsommar’ is a dark horror (though shot in bright sunlight), full of disturbing images that will follow you home and possibly inhabit your nightmares.” (The National Post)

“‘Midsommar’ isn’t just a great horror movie… It is also one of the best movies ever made about living with mental illness.” (Salon.com)
