The Gentlemen Hecklers Present Labyrinth

Where everything seems possible and nothing is what it seems.

“In 9 hours and 23 minutes… You’ll be mine.”

The Gentlemen Hecklers (Eric Fell, K.C. Novak, Patrick Maliha) provide live, hilarious commentary for the best bad, cheesy, or so bad-they’re-good in a cheesy-kinda-way films! Vancouver’s masters of movie riffing (with special guest Harris Anderson), make your favourite “guilty pleasure” movies even better… By talking you through them!

On Wednesday, January 8, the Hecklers are kicking off 2020 by returning to the Rio to lovingly toast (or perhaps maybe roast) an all-time fave of most every 80’s kid: LABYRINTH! Jim Henson‘s wildly imaginative and highly entertaining puppet-filled classic remains one of the Rio’s most regularly requested titles, but even still, the Hecklers are ready to riff on this totally awesome 80’s fantasy adventure. The late, great, David Bowie (January 8 was his birthday) makes all kinds of music, magic and mischief as a Goblin King who kidnaps a baby while tormenting a young Jennifer Connelly. This movie has the whole “package!”

Wear your dancing pants… Audience costumes very welcome and encouraged!

LABYRINTH (Jim Henson, 1986 / 101 mins / 14A) | Fifteen-year-old Sarah resents her baby brother Toby and secretly wishes that he will just disappear. Her wish comes true when goblins kidnap the boy. Feeling responsible and guilty about his abduction, she sets forth to retrieve him, and finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime. To rescue her brother, she must sneak into the castle of the Goblin King, which is in the center of a fantastical labyrinth. But, the task is easier said than done, for the maze is filled with strange creatures and mind-bending puzzles, and nothing is really as it seems.
