KURT COBAIN: MONTAGE OF HECK (Brett Morgen, 2015 / DCP / 145 mins, 14A) | This authorized documentary (Executive Produced by Frances Bean Cobain) on Kurt Cobain chronicles the musician’s life from the early days in Aberdeen, Washington to his success and downfall with the grunge band Nirvana. Director Brett Morgan (THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE, CROSSFIRE HURRICANE) was granted total and unrestricted access to Cobain’s own archives, and over the course of several years has crafted an astonishingly intimate, revealing, and deeply personal film that many believe will serve as the “definitive” documentary on the late musician. Many of Cobain’s own relatives including his mother and sister appear in the film to offer their perspective, as do others including Dave Grohl, Kris Novaselic, and Courtney Love.
