Kinds of Kindness

Hot off the heels of last year’s triumphant POOR THINGS, Oscar-winning filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos offers up another take on skewed surrealism, as only he knows how. This latest effort finds him re-teaming with Emma Stone (who appeared in both THE FAVOURITE and POOR THINGS, for which she took home her second Oscar) and Willem Dafoe in a triptych fable that hinges  stories around a man who tries to take control of his own life, a policeman whose wife seems like a different person, and a woman who searches for someone with a special ability. With Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, Keke Palmer, and Hong Chau.

“Viewers aching for something different and challenging in their cinema, has Yorgos got a gift for you.” (ScreenAnarchy)

“‘Kinds of Kindness’ feels like it was made by a cynical god as he watches our silly attempts to control our own lives and laughs at our foolishness. If the laughs are a litmus test for mental health, then I may be leaning a bit toward madness myself.” (Forbes)

“This kind of movie — an uncompromising art film about the unspeakable awfulness lurking just beneath everyone’s skin — doesn’t tend to happen on this scale very often.” (Nashville Scene)

“[T]he audacity of the project carries the day, and a cast once again bringing their A-game for a director who knows how to work with ensembles.” (RogerEbert.com)
