Jawbreaker (25th Anniversary Screening!)

Death totally bites.

High school. A time of sweet innocence. Untainted youth. Goal-oriented teenagers. NOT!

Life at Reagan High School involves moments of feeling, like, super awkward and discovering who you are while also  trying to fit in with everyone else. Belonging to a “clique” is a life or death matter, especially when that clique rules the school. Courtney Shane, Julie Freeman, Marcie Fox, and Liz Purr are all best friends. They are at the height of their popularity when an innocent birthday prank accidentally kills Liz, the sweetest member of the clique. During their panicked attempt to cover up the murder, the homely class nerd, Fern Mayo, stumbles upon them. There’s only one way to stop her from outing the girls to intrepid detective Vera Cruz (the ever-cool Pam Grier) – a makeover and popularity overhaul (!) – resulting in a dark, comical Faustian tale of corruption and redemption. With Rose McGowan, Rebecca Gayheart, Julie Benz, Judy Greer, Tatyana Ali, Jeff Conway, Pam Grier, and Marilyn Manson.

“[Director] Darren Stein mixes every teen genre, from horror to musical, with sly dexterity.” (Rolling Stone)
