It’s Friday, (May) the 13th… And Jason Voorhees lives!
The Rio Theatre’s Friday Late Night Movie series continues on May 13 with the final film in the iconic FRIDAY THE 13th movie franchise, the 2001 installment JASON X. (We’ve been plugging in other films from the series, in chronological order, for some time now!) Jim Isaac’s intergalactic sci-fi slasher is the tenth installment in the series, and features Kane Hodder in his fourth and final cinematic appearance as the hockey mask-wearing, chainsaw wielding Jason Voorhees – who now finds himself in the far future, after being cryogenically frozen for 445 years. With Lexa Doig and Jeff Geddis (with a surprise cameo from David Cronenberg!).

JASON X (James Isaac, 2001 / 18A / 92 mins) In the year 2455, Old Earth is now a contaminated planet abandoned for centuries–a brown world of violent storms, toxic landmasses and poisonous seas. Yet humans have returned to the deadly place that they once fled, not to live, but to research the ancient, rusting artifacts of the long-gone civilizations. But it’s not the harmful environment that could prove fatal to the intrepid, young explorers who have just landed on Old Earth. For them, it’s Friday the 13th, and Jason lives!
