Insanity: The Mental Health Crisis

Beyond the Surafce - A BCSS Event

BC Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) is excited to announce a special event for National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day.

We invite you to a screening and panel discussion of INSANITY: THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS, an autobiographical documentary about director Wendy Hill-Tout and her family’s experience navigating her brother Bruce’s schizophrenia and his subsequent disappearance 25 years ago. This film details the experience of her own family as well as others as they struggle to navigate Canada’s mental health system. She interviews family members, activists, and front-line workers to explore how the justice and healthcare systems could provide additional support for these vulnerable communities.

INSANITY: THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS was screened at select theatres nationwide last year, and we are very excited to present it on such an important awareness day. The event will open to the public at 12:00 pm as a free educational opportunity that people must register to attend. The opening remarks and screening of the documentary will not be recorded; however, the panel discussion at the end will be recorded so we can share it with our members and supporters.
