Heathers
“What is your damage, Heather?”
Dear Diary,
Long before MEAN GIRLS… There was HEATHERS.
Winona Ryder, Christian Slater and Shannen Doherty shine in one of the 1980s most infinitely quotable films, a viciously funny yet insightful black comedy that satirizes the messy (and sometimes deadly) politics of female friendship, young love, cliquedom, and croquet during those oh-so-awkward high school years. How very! In other words, HEATHERS is perfect viewing for a Friday Late Night Movie viewing on August 26.
“Dark, cynical, and subversive, HEATHERS gently applies a chainsaw to the conventions of the high school movie — changing the game for teen comedies to follow.” (Rotten Tomatoes)
“HEATHERS locates the emotional totalitarianism lurking in a prom queen’s heart.” (Time Magazine)

HEATHERS (Michael Lehmann, 1988 / 103 mins / 14A) | Veronica half-heartedly tries tries to be part of the cliquey ‘in crowd’ of her school, and along the way meets a dark “bad boy” who teaches her a more devious game of social politics.
