Vancouver, BC…Crazy8s is once again inviting aspiring filmmakers to submit their short film idea in a 4-minute video pitch.

Six winners will receive $1,000 and a production package worth tens of thousands of dollars – everything they need to make their film – in just 8 Crazy days!

Finished films will be screened to the who’s who of the Vancouver Film Industry at a Gala Screening on February 24th, 2018 at the Centre, followed by a not-to-be-missed After-Party at Science World followed by submissions to film festivals and markets nationally and around the world.

HOW TO REGISTER TO SUBMIT TO CRAZY8s 2018:

There are 3 ways to register for #Crazy8sFilms18:

1. On-Line Registration at http://crazy8s.film/ from Sept 20 – Oct 24
Price: Sept 20 – Oct 15 $55 Oct 16 – Oct 24 $60

2. In-Person at the Crazy8s Info Session & Pitch Registration event on Sunday Oct. 15 at the RIO Theatre. Price: $50 by cash or cheque. More info below:

Filmmakers will hear from event producers Paul Armstrong, Stephanie Halber and Alicia Bernbaum about what is expected in the video pitch, how the selection process works, and what to expect in terms of support if their project is selected.

Filmmakers will also hear from past Crazy8s filmmakers about the experience of participating in Crazy8s and from Crazy8s judges on what makes for a great Crazy8s project and a great Crazy8s pitch. There will be a screening of both the video-taped pitches and the finished films for several successful past Crazy8s projects.

So we highly recommend that filmmakers come out to the Info Session if possible, even if you have applied online, as you will learn many valuable tips on pitching.

There will also be door prizes – including free registration for one lucky team! It is free to attend the Session.

The application fee of $50 (cash or cheque payable to Crazy8s Film Society) and completed application form should be brought to the registration session (although we will have application forms on hand). Application forms can be downloaded at http://crazy8s.film/

3. By Mail or Drop Off. Alternatively, applicants can also drop off or mail in an application and a $60 registration fee (cash or cheque payable to Crazy8s Film Society) (don’t mail cash) which must be received by Oct 24 to (open 9am – 5pm weekdays):

THEN WHAT?

After registration you will be sent a registration number you will need for your Video Pitch.
Video pitches are due Oct 30, 2017 at 7:00pm. Then come celebrate at a joint Raindance Booze n’Schmooze Hallowe’en Party. Note that this year Video Pitches must be 4 minutes.

A video pitch jury will then select the top 40 projects to pitch in-person to a jury of Industry professionals. The jury will choose 12 finalists who will be paired with a professional story editor to craft their script before presenting it again to the jury.

Based on the strength of the finished scripts, 6 winners will be chosen. Production and post-production will take place from Feb. 9 – 16, 2018.
