Scottish BAFTA nominee ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE may just be the undisputed breakout zombie Christmas musical of 2018 (think SHAUN OF THE DEAD meets LA LA LAND). When the zombie apocalypse hits the sleepy town of Little Haven – at Christmas – teenager Anna and her high school friends have to fight, sing and dance to survive, with the undead horde all around them. Teaming up with her best friend John, Anna has to fight her way through zombified snowmen, Santas, elves and Christmas shoppers to get across town to the high school, where they’ll be safe. But they soon discover that being a teenager is just as difficult as staying alive, even at the end of the world. Starring Ella Hunt, Malcolm Cumming, Sarah Swire.
“Here’s the holiday musical you’re looking for – if, say, you like a splash of gore and a parade of flesh-eating zombies between musical numbers. Eat your heart out, Mary Poppins!” (Rolling Stone)
“Anna and the Apocalypse” is a gift for the midnight movie crowd that’s just as liable to break out into song as to celebrate each major zombie kill. It’s one of those rare horror movies to leave you with good holiday cheer.” (Roger Ebert.com)
“If you don’t think the undead mix well with musical numbers and gaudy Yuletide decor, Anna might be the movie to change your mind.” (The Wrap)
“The songs are as infectious as the corpses that walk the earth to satisfy their hunger for flesh, and the dances are as frenzied as the living people desperately trying to save their hides.” (New York Post)
