Join us at the Rio Theatre on Thursday, June 12 for a very special night featuring filmmaking icon Lloyd Kaufman live and in-conversation alongside screenings of both THE TOXIC AVENGER and TROMEO AND JULIET.
Kaufman is perhaps best known as the co-founder of legendary studio Troma Entertainment, a true champion of independent cinema, and is himself the creator behind many of the most beloved and “gleefully offensive midnight movies” ever made. After establishing Troma (the longest-running independent movie studio in North America) in 1974, he managed to create one of the industry’s most beloved, boundary-pushing brands that exploded into its own cult universe that includes maverick fans like James Gunn, Quentin Tarantino, and Kevin Smith.
Lloyd Kaufman will be kicking off his Western Canadian tour at the Rio Theatre before hitting Victoria’s Cinecenta on June 13 and Edmonton’s Metro Cinema on June 14.

TROMEO AND JULIET (Lloyd Kaufman, 1996 / 107 mins / NR) Tromeo, a filmmaker, falls in love with Juliet, the daughter of a former partner who tried to steal his business from him.
