The film follows the life, success, and troubles of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce, in a truly career-defining performance) as told by Antonio Salieri, the middling (if not “mediocre”) contemporary composer who was deeply tormented by his own jealousy of Mozart’s divine talent, and claimed to have murdered him. Also starring Elizabeth Berridge, Roy Dotrice, Simon Callow, Christine Ebersole, Cynthia Nixon, Jeffrey Jones.

AMADEUS (Miloš Forman, 1984 / 180 mins Director’s Cut / DCP / PG) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a remarkably talented young Viennese composer who unwittingly finds a fierce rival in the disciplined and determined Antonio Salieri. Resenting Mozart for both his hedonistic lifestyle and his undeniable talent, the highly religious Salieri is gradually consumed by his jealousy and becomes obsessed with Mozart’s downfall, leading to a devious scheme that has dire consequences for both men.
