A Mighty Wind (Catherine O’Hara Tribute)

Back together for the first time, again.

Join us at the Rio Theatre as we dim the lights and fire up the projector in tribute to the late, great Catherine O’Hara with a screening of her performance in one of the several films she made with Christopher Guest, 2003’s A MIGHTY WIND. Memorably, she appears alongside her frequent cohort Eugene Levy; the song their characters play in the film was also performed live at the 2004 Oscars by the duo, when it was nominated for Best Original song.

Fresh off her legendary stint as a player on SCTV, O’Hara delivers one of the most strangely memorable and “quirky” moments (a unique charm that would become something of a signature for the late actress) as Gail, an ice cream vendor. In this hilarious backstage mockumentary, three eclectic, never-quite-famous folk bands come together for the first time in decades following the death of their manager to put on an reunion concert in his honor, at the request of his son (Bob Balaban).
