“Their live show is gloriously quirky and energetic and it’s not surprising at all that this five-piece has won virtually every music contest they’ve entered” (EARTHLY PURSUITS)

Raincity is a Vancouver-based Rage-Funk band fronted by female leads on saxophone and vocals. The five members of Raincity combine their eclectic influences including Moon Hooch, Amy Winehouse, Queen, and Rage Against the Machine. Their live shows are unique, explosive, and a platform to share their values of feminism, empowerment, and freedom of expression. They have performed over 300 shows since their inception opening for acts such as Our Lady Peace, Bif Naked, and Five Alarm Funk on stages such as the Commodore Ballroom and The Bill Reid Amphitheatre.

Their newest album “A Proper Latte” is coming out April 15th 2022 followed by a Vancouver Island tour and a tour across Canada. The album is a response to pigeonholing that the group has experienced as individuals and as a band. Life is so much more rich and complicated than the labels that we give each other to define our genre, our sexuality, our heritage and so on. The album is a mosaic of human experience that we hope will inspire others to look beyond labels and appearances to see the deeper threads that connect us all.

“Cat’s voice is like an opera singer mixed with a Husqvarna chainsaw…” Powerful, raw singing  intertwined with captivating vocals and personal, calculated lyrics. Cat’s songs “blur the lines  between rock, soul and jazz so eloquently”. Her band effortlessly transfer you from finger clickin’ swing to intricately patterned pandemonium to 80s influenced rock’n’roll. If you are seeking a talent filled and unforgettable live show that encapsulates a loud mix of classic styles… then meet Cat Madden!
