Illy’s fourth studio album debuted at #4 on the ARIA album chart in November 2013, his first top 10 debut and the second highest first week sales by an Australian hip hop artist in 2013.
Recorded with Executive Producer M-Phazes (Eminem, Kimbra, Bliss n Eso) Cinematic is a tale of a smart and idealistic hip-hop storyteller who put everything on the line through honing his craft and sheer hard work.
It’s all part of the mosaic that makes up Illy: his relatable persona, hip-hop nous and lyrical smarts have cemented him as one of Australia’s most exciting artists. The album features guest appearances from Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Daniel Merriweather and Kira Puru.
Less than a year since it’s release Cinematic has now achieved Gold Sales status in Australia, selling in excess of 35,000 albums.
Illy won Best Urban Artist at the 2013 ARIA Awards for his previous album Bring It Back and kick started 2014 landing two entries in the triple j hottest 100, with his triple j like a version mega medley arriving at #66, following Youngbloods featuring Ahren Stringer at #77. Illy has had two top 40 Singles so far in 2014 with Youngbloods and Tightrope. The latter of which (Tightrope) achieved Platinum Sales status back in June, selling in excess of 100,000 singles in Australia. The YouTube video has garnered more than 1.2 million plays to date.
Illy has had a busy 2014 so far which includes a sold out album tour, a flurry of sold out regional dates all across the country and festival appearances at Splendour In The Grass, Groovin The Moo among others.
With his brand new single, One For The City, in tow Illy is showing no signs of slowing down as he gears up for his biggest headline tour to date, the One For The Cities tour, hitting all capital cities in Australia across November/December.
