The Canadian Pacific Blues Society is happy to announce a record release party for the STEVE KOZAK BAND and special guests at The Rio Theatre, Sunday March 19th. The new album is called “It’s Time” and guests include Dave Vidal – guitar, Jerry Cook – Sax, Matthew Rogers – guitar and Shawn Hill – harmonica. Matthew Rogers of Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer fame has produced the recording while his partner Shawn Hill has produced the vocal sessions.
For the past 30 years guitarist/vocalist Steve Kozak has been faithfully playing his brand of west-coast jump and swing through out the Lower Mainland and beyond. In 2012 Steve won a Maple Blues Award for New Artist and with that he has expanded his recognition to Eastern Canada and in to the USA. In recent years he has played with international blues artists such as Tom Holland, James Harman, Duke Robillard and Mitch Woods.
Although his style of blues is somewhat dated his lyrics are current and tell interesting personal stories of both hard times and triumphs. This promises to be great evening of blues from one of the best on the coast. Steve will be joined on stage by his regular band, Roger Brant on bass, Dave Webb on keyboards, Chris Nordquist on drums and of course Steve Kozak himself on guitar and vocals plus the 4 guests mentioned above.
