We are pleased to welcome back to Vancouver after an absence off 11 years renowned blues rock guitarist Walter Tout. His previous visits created a storm at the old, venerable blues bar, The Yale Hotel. Since those days the New Jersey born Walter Trout has continued to barnstorm his way across Europe and around North America at an alarming rate and record numerous albums for both the Ruf and Provogue labels.
All of this came to an abrupt halt in late 2013 when Walter discovered that his liver was failing. He went on a transplant list and on May 26 2014 he
underwent successful transplant surgery. By 2015 Walter Trout was able to tour and record again. Since then he has recorded 4 albums with the latest, “Blues Survivor,” being delivered last year.
In the late 60s & early 70s Trout spent years in various bands playing the North East seaboard before deciding to move west to Los Angeles where he worked as a sideman for blues veterans Deacon Jones, Percy Mayfield, John Lee Hooker and Joe Tex. In 1981 he joined Canned Heat which eventually led to a five year stint with John Mayall Bluesbreakers. Leaving Mayall in 1989, Trout embarked on a solo career which so far has produced 25 albums.
Opening will be Vancouver based Matt Hoyles who will provide an interesting take on the blues. Enjoy the comfort of the Rio Theatre in comfortable seats with a beer or a glass of wine.
This show is a presentation of the Canadian Pacific Blues Society and One Stop Rock Shop
