ACTING PROCESS AND IMPROV WORKSHOP with Gabriel Carter and Chilton Crane

In this workshop we shall be exploring, navigating, and investigating the acting process in a incremental fashion, coupled with free form, imaginative improvisational work to compliment. This workshop has been structured to meet the needs of both beginning and intermediate students of acting. 19+ adults only.

June 19th we’ll start the workshop with a 2hr Meet and greet at Van Arts 570 Dunsmuir 7pm – 9pm

June 20th 10am – 4pm Rio Theatre
June 21st 1pm – 5pm Rio Theatre

Chilton has been a professional actor for 25+ years, most recently co-starring in the feature film Cut Bank with Liam Hemsworth, John Malkovich and Billy Bob Thornton ; recurring roles on 4400,Cold Squad and The L Word and Guest Star and Supporting Roles on Supernatural, Smallville, Final Destination2, X Files, Outer Limits, Twilight Zone, Poltergeist and many more. With over a hundred Film and TV credits and Stage work as well, she has also managed to teach consecutively for the past 18 years and currently is the Head of the Acting Dept. at VanArts (William Davis Centre for Actors Study at Vanarts). Chilton recently studied at the acclaimed Uta Hagen School – HB Studio in New York -Instructors Program. She is passionate about acting and the exploration of story telling through self.

Gabriel Carter is from San Francisco, California. He graduated from the American Conservatory Theatre masters program. In NYC, he was a voice over director for Don Buchwald and associates where he coached such luminaries as Ally Sheedy, Mary Stuart Masterson, Billy Crudup and Lisa Bonet amongst others. He was a instructor at the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York. In Vancouver he was a core faculty member of Schoolcreative for five years. Gabriel believes acting is not a mimicry of life, and that fine acting is a potent blend of craft and pathos.
