A Real Pain

Best known as an actor, Jesse Eisenberg (THE SOCIAL NETWORK, ZOMBIELAND) flexes his writing and directing chops in the acclaimed road-trip comedy A REAL PAIN, which he also stars in alongside Kieran Culkin (“Succession”). The pair play mismatched cousins David (Eisenberg) and Benji (Culkin), who reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved late grandmother. The adventure takes a turn when the odd-couple’s old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.A REAL PAIN is currently nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Actor (Eisenberg), Best Supporting Actor (Culkin), and Best Screenplay (Eisenberg).

“Led by a scene-stealing turn from Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain is a powerfully funny, emotionally resonant dramedy that finds writer-director-star Jesse Eisenberg playing to his strengths on either side of the camera.” (Rotten Tomatoes)

“Kieran Culkin gives a career-best performance in taking a character who could have been a one-dimensional, shtick-reliant jerk and infusing him with a vulnerability and empathy.” (Chicago Sun-Times)

“What’s most wonderful about the movie is its radiant generosity. Eisenberg’s performance is terrific, muted and hyperkinetic in all the right ways. But most often, he’s subtly directing attention to his co-star. Culkin is extraordinary.” (TIME Magazine)

“{Director Jesse] Eisenberg furthers himself here as a distinctive voice, one with a keen visual sense, a masterful ability to juggle tones and an innate feel for timing and pacing.
